i'm the girl anachronism.. i really shouldn't be here now

The clean fake-wood tables, shiny glass screens, the anonymous selection of music playing in the background, surrounded by so many geniuses you would think I'm at a Nobel convention, or MENSA at the least . Yes, I'm in an Apple store. Waiting.. oh so patiently waiting, so much so that were I a small child I would insist on some yummy sugary treat in reward. However, I am waiting for that yummy sugary tech treat called the iPhone 3G s. Now, luckily I planned ahead and decided to team up with a good buddy of mine to tackle the gargantuan line. That good buddy of mine happens to be my father, and luckily for the sake of our (sanity &) family life we get along swimmingly. You see, it is very important that we get along so well because we have been having father-daughter bonding time for hours upon hours (five to be exact). In this time we have stood in line at Apple, made it to the front, faced AT&T difficulties, gone to the AT&T store, rinsed and repeated the cycle. If it isn't sad enough that I'm using a display computer to write this post as I look for any way to kill time (and I mean slash it, and rip it to tiny confetti pieces)-  wait, okay, let me stop there, I think I surpassed my whining quota for the day. But really, truly, honestly can you blame me? well... if anything this gives me more time to decide what color suits me best.

something light, and frothy kinda like those green tea lattes i enjoy so much *hint*

Okies, so please don't judge, I moralize myself enough as it is ( I promise)... but, i've been looking at new clothes ( not that I especially need more, but again let's not judge), and came across this winsome little gem by UNIQLO. It's perfect day wear and I love that collar! best of all its under 60 bucks. sweet indeed... UNIQLO prides itself on quality Japanese tailoring, which if worn will only get me more comparisons to  Nelly Yuki. ( not that I mind, I love Nelly Yuki xoxo)

JUDITH

Wandering around SoHo, I spotted what seems to be a Judith Supine creation.  oh COLLAGE how I love thee. And Judith Supine. I went to one of his shows at the English Kills gallery in Brooklyn. For those not familiar with Judith ( yes he is male, he took on his mother's name and "supine" as the birthing position as his name to avoid run-ins with the law), he does street art. And he does it well. I am quite enamored by his work, which often reflects a political sensitivity. Most of his work is larger in scale, the image at right wasn't much bigger than my biology textbook. Judith has hung his work off the Manhattan Bridge  and made it float on the East river. In addition he has also posted his work on the Army recruitment center in Times Square. He is a lovely lovely street artist. I should really devote more to him considering he was the subject of my senior thesis ( "extended essay"). However, if fate is kind to me I am sure I will come across more of his work, and therefore have more to blog about.

That one time in 5th grade when the kid with the fruit snacks wouldn't share his fruit snacks with me, and instead ate them as I watched.

I stumbled upon a feature in NyMag about an editorial in June's British Vogue. This editorial happened to feature model Daria Werbowy on location in Kerala, India. She is wearing a dress by Ralph Lauren that is about 48 times as much as the average yearly income of a person in Kerala. Well, I'm sure the elephant she was washing in the photo didn't notice it cost over 15 thousand. To be honest had I been the elephant I wouldn't have noticed. However, I would have wondered why she had a paint tarp wrapped around her.  (At least the tarp featured at right is blue) The editorial only managed to exponentially increase the speed at which I shook my head in disbelief a few pages later, in which Miss Werbowy is photographed with local children, and riding a public bus.

here is the inspiration for this post on NYMAG.com

prelude

"Prelude" means that there are things, other than this prelude on my priority list which i would like to share. So, I should keep it short and sweet. 1. this is intended as social commentary. 2. I'm not very funny. 3. when i self-analyzed, I realized the creation of this blog is probably an attempt to glorify my own opinions. I'm not sure how i feel about that. 4. The articles will be inspired from whatever crosses my path both on the internet and in the physical world. I, suppose that will do.
